Wikipedia is not a 1960's fad, though. It will stay, so the WM doesn't really need to archive it. It should, however, archive the websites that Wikipedia uses as sources, making sure they remain available.

Re: LMAO!! This IS why I love the wayback machine... |
As somebody who edits wikipedia everyday, I must say that I'm amazed it's even still around today. It's the most unreliable peice of shit I have ever seen. Some of the articles are bad they are funny. Heck, remember when AOL was "gonna be around forever"? They have recently deleted 1000's of old pages and are dying now.

Wikipedia is not an ISP, though. It will slowly improve over time. I understand that not everything on Wikipedia is trustworthy, and I will certainly never use it as a primary source. But could you give me some examples of these "unreliable peice of shit" articles you talk about?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_over-the-air_television_networksSo out of date, it's funny. One network is listed as having around 9 affiliates, while another article lists them having over 70. That said, I don't hate Wikipedia as a concept, in fact I've written over 70 articles on the website.

I laughed when I read this reply. Yeah I agree also, when I was doing some fact checking for my manifesto for the increase breast size site -
http://www.increasebreastsizenow.com - half the user contributed garbage was just DEAD wrong. I actually had to go back and change a lot of posts to keep things on my own site factual! It's no wonder universities will not accept wiki pages for citations.
Cheers
Jess

Wikipedia is not designed for archiving its source websites.
So can we update outdated Wikipedia links with links to archive.org's wayback machine?
